Best Essential Oil Diffusers:
Why are these diffusers the best?
We’re picky and we only want to recommend the best diffusers to our readers. We used several criteria to determine which diffusers would make it on our favorites list:
- Priced under $20
- Ultrasonic diffusers (No heat!)
- Designed for essential oils (No warmers for synthetic perfumes)
- Positive customer reviews
This really narrowed down the field. In fact, very few diffusers made the cut.
Please note that Amazon offerings and pricing is ever-changing! Photos below may not match if they change things up.

Is it safe to use a bpa free diffuser with Young Living oils? I’ve heard medical grade, but one of my friends asked about a bpa free diffuser.
Beth K says
I’m not aware of any policy or suggestion for which ultrasonic diffusers should not be used with Young Living oils except that we, of course, discourage using diffusers that apply heat to the essential oils.

Lynn,
Thank you for stopping by our site and leaving your comment. I am sorry to say that we aren’t able to help you with medical questions since we’re not doctors. I hope you can find some relief. Have you considered asking your doctor or healthcare provider about possible natural solutions to your concerns?

I am allergic to pine… would I need to be concerned about diffusing any pine related oils… i.e. pine, blue spruce, cypress, white balsam fir etc…
Beth K says
I’ve heard of people being cautious when introducing essential oils to individuals with known sensitivities such as yours. I would think that it makes sense to be cautious. Depending on your normal reaction to pine, you might consider doing a test where you inhale from an essential oil bottle for just a moment and then see how you react. I wish you the best in this journey. I hope you can determine this safely so you can get the most enjoyment our of the essential oils that will work for you and your unique body.

How about a diffuser that you can wake up to? I have a pureguardian but the control sensors don’t work to set the alarm. Something that works by setting a time to go off, delayed timer such as will go off in 8 hours, or has an actual flip on switch so you can plug it into an automatic on/off programed plug-in would be nice but they are impossible to find. 🙁
Jenn says
I would love that too! Unfortunately, I haven’t seen one with a timer that didn’t also come with an outrageous price tag.
Carol says
Can you recommend any diffusers that don’t use water. My 3 yr. old granddaughter spilled the water out of one I was using in her bedroom.
Beth K says
Hi Carol, I don’t have a recommendation for that situation. I know that must be very frustrating. I would say that all diffusers (waterless or not) should be kept out of the reach of children. Many essential oils could cause a strong reaction in a three year old.
