DIY Natural Facial Toner with 3 Ingredients

With only three ingredients, this DIY Natural Facial Toner couldn’t be simpler! Gently refresh and cleanse your skin, without stripping its natural moisture layer. You can feel good about incorporating a natural option into your skincare routine.

I remember being told as a teenager to simply use water and bar soap to cleanse my face and it would work better than most prescription fixes. Although I love the ease and natural focus of this idea, skincare needs can change as you age.

As an adult, I still avoid harsh chemicals from over-the-counter medications and reach for more natural solutions to care for my skin.

My face is very sensitive so I use these natural beauty recipes every night. Here’s my skincare routine:

Why You Should Use a Facial Toner

Facial toner should be used after washing to remove any left-over dirt, makeup, or oil. Think of it as secondary cleansing. Feel assured that your skin is really, really clean!

A toner also helps to prep the skin for moisturizer and any targeted serums you might apply. Don’t skip this important step in your skincare routine!

Homemade Facial Toner Ingredients

The witch hazel [7] in this recipe is great for minimizing the appearance of pores, while gently tightening your skin. It also helps the essential oils to mix more easily in water. Witch hazel makes skin feel clean and refreshed without over-drying.

The next ingredient in this recipe is filtered water. It helps dilute the witch hazel and provides additional cleansing. Water is the ultimate gentle moisturizer. Using filtered or distilled water helps reduce the contaminants.

Geranium [8] essential oil is added to balance and beautify skin. It has rich antioxidant properties. The sweet, floral scent of geranium is uplifting and delightful. You can also try this recipe with lavender, elemi, or frankincense.

DIY Natural Facial Toner

Ingredients

Directions

To use: Saturate a cotton pad [3] with toner and smooth it over the face and neck. You can also half this recipe and add a 4-oz spray bottle [13] and spritz it over your face and neck. Wipe clean with a cotton round.

Storage Tip:

Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months. Essential oils will degrade in direct sunlight. Make sure to store your toner in a dark-colored bottle or on a dark shelf in your closet or cupboard.

Not the DIY type? This BALANCE by Young Living Dual-Phase Toner [14] reduces the appearance of pores, provides a mattifying effect, and balances the skin’s microbiome.
