I’m not sure this recipe needs much explanation. If you’ve never heard of it…a poo spray is a spray that you add to the toilet water BEFORE you do your business. It creates a ‘seal’ or barrier, so to speak, on the water and holds the poo-smell in the water and keeps it from stinking up the bathroom. Genius! Make this Homemade Bathroom Poo Spray and say goodbye to lingering bathroom stink forever.
I live in a house with 5 other men/boys. And a boy dog. I don’t need to explain it. It stinks around here…a lot.
Especially in the bathrooms. That is until…I discovered this Poo-pouri Spray!
Don’t believe me? It WORKS. This mom to 4 boys says it works, it works!
Using my friend Jennifer’s recipe as inspiration, I’ve made a similar version for my boys and their bathroom stink, using oils that I had on hand. (Now, to train them to use it before they go!)
I’ve shared a few oily combinations that you can try, depending on what oils you have on hand and what smells your prefer to take care of the stink!
Now get a set of little spray bottles ordered and mix up this magic that will keep your bathrooms smelling fresh and clean. Be sure to make enough to stash one on the back of every toilet in your house!

What will happen if I leave the Vegetable Glycerin out?
Jenn says
It would explode. Just kidding! The vegetable glycerin is what keeps the oils dispersed on the surface creating a barrier for smells to not escape the bowl. Not sure it would be very effective without or at the very minimum would make this just an air freshener. 🙂

Is there any alternative to the vegetable glycerin?
Beth K says
We’ve not tested it with any other variations. Let us know if you find something that works.
Tami says
Beth, I use 2 tablespoons of vodka per 4 ounce bottle of spray. Just shake the bottle before each use! It works great! Any cheap vodka will do.

Is there any other combinations of oils I can use. I only have the starterpack
Diana M says
Hi Vera! Try it with Lavender and Citrus Fresh. Both are in the Premium Starter Kit. I also like it with Thieves to mask odors 🙂
Jennifer Ross says
I just read that you can use liquid soap instead.
1tbs liquid soap = 2tbs vegetable glycerine. Has anyone else tried this?
Diana M says
Hi Jennifer! Yes, you can try it with liquid soap too. We like Castile soap! The vegetable glycerin acts as an emulsifier so the constancy may change. Just shake it up before each use.
Jenna says
I’d like to try the citrus fresh and geranium combination for a fruity fresh smelling bathroom! Also, what exactly is the vegetable glycerine in this recipe?

Thank you for this recipe. These are the kinds of things that I like, but feel that I can’t afford to purchase “store bought” versions of these super nice things. Any tips on hor to get folks to realize they should spray it in the water first?
This is news to me and will be hard to unlearn.
