Vacation can take a lot out of you. The transportation worries, unfamiliar sleeping arrangements, strange foods, and just being away from home can be uncomfortable for even a seasoned traveler. We’ve compiled some of our favorite tips to help you enjoy a comfortable, peaceful, and refreshing vacation using essential oils. Here are 8 Essential Oils to Pack When You Go on Vacation.
Best Essential Oils for Vacation & Travel
1. Deep Relief Roll-On
Lugging around baggage, walking through airports, and just about all aspects of travel can leave your muscles tired and worn out. Use Deep Relief for a wonderful, invigorating massage. This stuff really helps ease sore muscles to perk you right up for another day on your vacation. Need an extra boost for your muscles? Try our Muscle Relief Massage Oil recipe!
2. DiGize Vitality Essential Oil
Use this powerhouse blend for digestive support on your trip. Just place 1 – 2 drops of DiGize Vitality Essential Oil in a vegetable capsule and take on its own or with a meal. You can also place a drop of DiGize Vitality directly in your water with a drop of Peppermint Vitality for supporting digestion and overall wellness.
3. Lavender Essential Oil
Diffusing Lavender during your trip can help create a sense of peace and relaxation. Its fresh floral scent helps you relax after a long day to help you sleep well through the night. (See more tips for a great night’s sleep for the entire family here.)
Lavender is also wonderful to put on your kids’ diffuser bracelets during the day for a calm and peaceful effect. These braided leather bracelets are the very best and the perfect size for kids!
4. Purification Essential Oil
I grab my bottle of Purification to freshen up our hotel rooms and cabins from any lingering smells or mustiness. Airplane bathrooms are the worst! But Purification will neutralize the odors and create a happy and comfortable environment.
5. R.C. Essential Oil
This is my secret weapon when I’m on vacation. I use R.C. Essential Oil to battle through the time zone changes that come with many vacation getaways. The energizing scent is great for waking up in the morning or preparing for a long day of physical activity with the family. The brisk and refreshing aroma is a wonderful pick-me-up to brighten my senses and help me make the most of every day of vacation!
Sometimes a vacation can be a lot of work to pull off. I put Stress Away in my diffuser necklace because it makes me happy and I feel much more relaxed, calm, and able to enjoy the trip. This is a sweet and peaceful essential oil to use on your pillow at night to help you unwind. (Be sure to pack your child’s favorite Bedtime Spray as well!)
7. Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea Tree is simply wonderful for your beauty routine. It’s got many uses: from hair and scalp health to beautiful nails and fresh-looking skin.
My skin always goes bonkers when I’m away from home and out of my normal routine. Tea Tree is the thing I reach for at the first sign of a skin blemish. With all these great uses, you might need to pack a bottle for each member of the family. (Want a little more help with blemishes? Bring a tube of our Blemish Gel recipe!)
8. Thieves Essential Oil
You’ll never catch me without a bottle of Thieves Essential Oil. My favorite vacation uses are diffusing in the main living area, adding to hand soap in the kitchen, and sprinkling on tissues to be placed around our rental property to make the place smell fresh and amazing during our entire visit. It’s the key ingredient in our Homemade Moisturizing Hand Cleanser which is a must-have for any trip – near or far.
BONUS: Tips for Traveling with Essential Oils in the Air
Many of you will be getting on an airplane for your next family trip. If you’re going to pack your essential oils in a checked bag you’ll want to get a padded travel bag made especially for the oil bottles. This will keep your precious essential oils nice and safe during the trip through baggage loading and unloading.
If you’re taking your essential oils on the plane in a carry-on, you’ll need to follow TSA regulations and pack your oils into the same single quart-sized resealable bag with all other liquids. I’ve done this numerous times with no problems.
Make sure to pack an inexpensive diffuser to take on your getaway. I like to plug this in as soon as we get to our room to start refreshing the air with one of our purifying diffuser blends. This diffuser has phenomenal reviews and a great price so you can invest in one for your next trip!
