In my home, essential oils are part of our daily routine. We use them to promote healthy sleep, to help us relax, and to keep everyone in a good mood. We also use them to try to stay well. The winter can be hard on little, immature immune systems. Essential oil roller blends are easy to make and convenient. Try these Immune Boosting Roller Blends to keep everyone in tip-top shape this winter.

Practicing healthy habits is one way to stay healthy, especially in the winter. It’s easier to stop sickness before it starts. Frequent hand washing with hot water and soap or a cleansing spray, staying away from sick people, and eating a balanced diet are all preventative measures meant to promote good health.

During the winter months, people are more susceptible to illness. We get less vitamin D from spending less time outdoors, leaving our immune systems vulnerable. Cold air can be hard on the respiratory tract which can compromise the immune system. We also tend to engage in unhealthy habits in the winter. More time indoors means less exercise, not to mention all the extra calories consumed during the holidays. It’s no wonder people get sick more frequently in the winter!

Certain essential oils have antibacterial, antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Because of these properties, essential oils can be used to promote wellness.

Immune Boosting Essential Oils

  • Thieves
  • Rosemary
  • Oregano
  • Lemon
  • Cinnamon Bark
  • Clove
  • Frankincense
  • Tea Tree
  • Eucalyptus
  • Lemongrass
  • Peppermint
  • Cypress

Perhaps the most popular and well-known immune-boosting essential oil blend is Thieves. This unique blend was inspired by a legend of 15th-century French grave robbers who formulated a special blend of rosemary, clove, and other botanicals to ward off sickness.

Since Thieves is already a blend of 5 different immune-boosting oils, it’s a great oil to add to a roller bottle. Mix it with a carrier oil, or combine with other essential oils to pack a bigger punch.

This winter, make essential oil roller blends a part of your wellness strategy!

4 Immune Boosting Roller Blends

Directions: In a 10ml roller bottle, add essential oils and fill to the top with the carrier oil of your choice. Fractionated coconut oil is ideal, but you can also use jojoba oil or sweet almond oil. Swirl to combine. Add a vinyl label to the bottle.

To use: Apply liberally to the wrists, neck, spine, or the bottoms of the feet.

*Note: If making these blends for children ages 6 and above, cut the drops of essential oils in half. Take caution when using these blends on children under 6. Some oils are not considered safe for small children. You can read more about safely using essential with children here.

Make rolling on essential oils part of your daily routine! Grab the kids before school or before bed for a quick roll on. My kiddos like oils on their feet and then we put on their socks. Certain oils (like oregano) can be stinky, so the socks help mask the smell. Wherever you put them, apply them frequently to fully benefit from the essential oils.
